Three trucking firms—Western Express, Inc., MHT Group, Inc., and Church Transportation and Logistics—have filed a $5 million lawsuit against A1’s Towing and Hauling, accusing it of engaging in illegal booting and towing activities.

The suit, lodged in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, charges A1’s Towing and its associated entities with violating the RICO Act by targeting commercial truck drivers. The plaintiffs allege that the company, under various names and managed by Colton Ahmad Cathey, demanded excessive fees for the release of their vehicles.

This lawsuit not only seeks financial damages but also aims to address the broader issue of interstate commerce disruption caused by A1’s practices in the Memphis area. Following numerous complaints, the Memphis Transportation Commission has temporarily suspended A1’s operating permits.
